Beacon Blog: Why green building codes aren’t the total answer

Check out the latest Beacon Blog… Nick Collins says green building codes aren’t the total answer – size and occupant behaviour have a part to play too.

A new report by the US National Bureau of Economic Research has found that building codes that require energy efficient features haven’t done anything to lower energy consumption in California.

This matches evidence from Beacon’s demonstration projects that improving energy efficiency and home performance can lead to ‘take back’ – greater efficiency leading to more consumption as households enjoy more warmth comfort and changing the way they use their homes.
